Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Welding (Acetylene)

Hazards:  Exposure to toxic gases, fumes and dust, hot sparks and metal striking the face or clothing, fire and explosion, and torch noise

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield. Use adequate ventilation or the appropriate type chemical respirator. Remove flammable and combustible material from the immediate area.  Provide a fire watch if area cannot be protected or shielded.  Use the properly shaded eye wear.
