Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Tree Trimming (Aerial Lift)

Hazards: Contact with overhead electrical lines, falls from the lift, lift failures, hand, finger and limb injuries due to cuts or falling items, eye injury from flying objects, and inhalation of airborne wood dust

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield.  Maintain proper distances from electrical lines, or use insulation blankets if necessary. Operate lifts according to the manufacturer’s instructions.  Use proper procedures to secure the area to protect others from the activity.  If a chainsaw is used, follow applicable precautions.
