Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Tractor Operation and Maintenance

Hazards:  Eye injury due to flying particles, hand injury from sharp edges and contact with moving parts, head injury from objects falling during repair, trauma caused by rotating parts, foot injuries due to dropped parts, and noise exposure during operation

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.  Allow only trained authorized users to operate or perform routine maintenance and repair on equipment.  Always operate in an open well ventilated area or vent exhaust directly outdoors.  Never refuel while engine is running or in presence of open flame.  Never remove radiator cap from liquid cooled engines while they are hot. Stop engine before performing any maintenance or trouble shooting and disable the ignition system.  Ensure all guards are in place prior to operation and after repairs.  Keep hands, hair and clothing away from moving parts.  Always use a seat belt where roll over protection is provided.
