Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Sewer Rodder Operation

Hazards:  Eye injuries from flying particles, exposure to traffic, hand and finger injuries from moving parts, possible high noise, lifting and crushing injuries while removing manhole covers, electrical shock due to improper grounding, and death due to toxic and oxygen deficient atmosphere

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.  Allow only trained authorized users to operate equipment.  Follow proper work area protection practices.  If entering, confined space entry practices should be followed.  Use proper devices for removing sewer covers.  Keep hands, hair and clothing away from moving parts.
