Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Pipe Threading Operation

Hazards:  Eye injury from flying particles, cuts from the threader and sharp pipe, struck by or exertion injuries from handling pipe, foot injuries from falling pipe, electrical shock due to improper grounding, and high noise

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield.  Wear appropriate gloves when object being handled could cause cuts, punctures, or abrasions to hands.  Keep hands, hair and clothing away from moving parts.  Wear hearing protection as needed. Provide proper pipe storage racks.
