Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Hand Held Portable Power Tools

Hazards:  Inhalation of dust and particles from machine operation, eye and face injury from projectiles, foot injury from dropped items, hand injury from contact with moving parts, high noise from machine operation, and electrical shock due to improper grounding

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments: Operate tool in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Allow only trained and authorized employees to operate the tool. Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield.  Ensure all guarding is in place before operation.  Disposable respirator is optional.  Keep hands, hair and loose clothing clear of all moving parts. Ensure the tool and electrical plug are properly grounded.
