Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Floor Buffer Operation

Hazards:  Eye injury from splashes, trauma from projectiles, impact, vibration, and electrical shock due to improper grounding

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate buffer in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.  Wear a respirator or dusk mask if needed.  Ensure buffer cord is not damaged and that cord plug has a ground connection.  Wear long pants to avoid chemicals splashing on bare legs.  Use two people when lifting the buffer.  Take occasional breaks to avoid repetitive motion injury from vibration.  Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing clear of all moving parts.
