Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Degreasing/Parts Cleaning

Hazards:  Inhalation of toxic vapors, skin and facial exposure to chemicals, foot injury due to dropped items, and possible fire hazard due to heat, sparks or slag.

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield.  Ensure emergency eye wash/shower is readily accessible.  Gloves, apron and respirator (if needed) should comply with the MSDS recommendations.  Ensure adequate ventilation and avoid ignition sources if liquid is flammable.  Dispose of used solvents per EPA and state regulations.
