Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Battery Charging

Hazards:  Eye injury and acid burns due to acid contact with skin, fire and explosion injuries due to sparks or improper storage of flammable and combustibles and poor ventilation, foot/leg injuries from falling or dropped batteries, strains and sprains from material handling.

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield.  Avoid ignition sources and always charge in a well ventilated area.  Ensure the charger and electrical plug are properly grounded. Follow proper lifting techniques.
