Job Task: Grinder Operation
Hazards: Inhalation of dust and particles, eye and head injuries from projectiles, hand or finger injuries from contact with the wheel, foot injury from dropped items, fire hazards from sparks contacting flammable or combustible liquids, electrical shock due to improper grounding, and high noise
Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments: Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield. A disposable respirator is optional. Ensure the grinder work rest is adjusted to within 1/4 inch of the wheel and the tongue guard is 1/8 inch from the wheel. Ring test new wheels for defects. Do not grind near flammable liquids or gases. Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing clear of all moving parts.
