Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Drill Press Operation

Hazards:  Eye and head injuries from flying particles, hand injuries from contact with the bit, foot injury from dropped items, and electrical shock due to improper grounding

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.  If designed for a fixed location, securely anchor press to prevent movement during use.  Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield. Ensure the drill bit is tightened and belts are guarded.  A disposable respirator is optional. Keep hands, hair and loose clothing clear of all moving parts.
