Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Bucket Truck Operation

Hazards:  Equipment failure, electrocution, fall from the bucket, vehicle exposures when working near traffic, high noise levels, and head and foot injuries due to falling objects.

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.  Allow only trained authorized users to operate or perform routine maintenance and repair on equipment.  Maintain proper distances from overhead lines if not involved with electrical line repair/maintenance.  Reflective vest should be worn when working in or near roadways.  Use the three points of contact techniques when mounting and dismounting from the vehicle.  Do not jump from the vehicle to ground.  Ensure vehicle is provided with an annual certified inspection.  Wear seat belt if equipment has rollover protection.
