Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Belt Sander Operation

Hazards:  Inhalation of dust and particles, eye injuries from projectiles, foot injury from dropped items, hand and trauma injuries due to contact with moving parts, and possible electrical shock.

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with manufacturer’s instructions. Face shields are considered secondary protection and should always be worn with safety glasses or goggles under the shield.  A disposable respirator is optional.  Keep hands, hair and loose clothing clear of all moving parts.  Ensure the sander and electrical plug are properly grounded.
