Personal Protective Guide

Job Task:  Air Compressor (Operation and Maintenance)

Hazards:  Hand injury while working near sharp edges and in confined areas during repair, eye injury from residual air or blowing debris, electrical shock due to improper grounding, and noise exposure during operation

Although other exposures exist, they are not controlled by personal protective equipment; therefore, they are not indicated in this manual.

Additional Comments:  Operate equipment in strict accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Never use compressed air to clean your body or clothes.  Use only approved 30 psi maximum cutoff nozzles.  Ensure all guarding is in place and properly adjusted. Wear gloves if the object being cut could cause cuts, punctures or abrasions.  Keep hands, hair and loose clothing clear of all moving parts.  Follow lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance and repair.  Wear gloves as needed.
